Celebrating Guru Nanak Dev Jayanti

CWS celebrated Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Jayanti with great zeal and fervour. The special feature of the programme was a speech and ‘Shabads’ which were chanted by the students with great enthusiasm. The children also participated in a small Prabhaat Pheri to celebrate the occasion. Students were also explained the teaching of Guru Nanak Dev Ji by the teachers. Various craft activities were conducted for the students; poster making; making a Kanga using ice-cream sticks, drawing and colouring the Khanda and drawing colouring the five sacred items of the Sikhs.

Deepawali Celebrations

The popular festival of Diwali was celebrated at CWS on 24th Nov 2023. The teachers explained the importance of Diwali to the kids, signifying that the festival is spiritually the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair. The Nursery and Prep class kids came in beautiful ethnic attire for the celebrations and participated in a Diwali Puja. The children were given a special treat on the joyous occasion. Both the teachers and the students enjoyed the celebrations wholeheartedly.

Diwali celebrations for the students of Class I was delightful affair. The celebrations commenced with the Diwali Puja seeking the blessings of the Almighty. The students were explained the story behind the festival. In a craft activity the children made colourful posters showing bright and beautiful Diwali Diyas. They exchanged gifts with their friends and wished each other Happy Diwali.

Diwali celebrations for the students of Class II began with the children and teachers performing the Diwali Puja to venerate Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi. In celebration of the festival the children drew and coloured beautiful Diwali posters. Both the children and the teachers enjoyed the festivities.

The students of Class III after performing the Diwali Puja were explained the harmful effects of bursting crackers and how crackers cause air and noise pollution. Some children also gave their view on why we should not burst crackers.  The students also made paper Diyas using origami sheets and decorated them beautifully.
